Omaha native Nick Eker, CPA, CFE says the limitless career potential, the on-going learning process and the variety in the workload are what made a career in Accounting most appealing.

“I knew I didn’t want to do the same thing every single day,” said Eker. “Being a CPA allows me to work in different industries with various people, all while continuing to learn and be challenged.”

I broke over 15 tennis racquets in college. Andy Roddick made it look cool, but talk about an expensive habit!

I have the most amazing wife in the world, Lexie. We have 4 boys (triplets– Henry, Carter, and Beckett, their brother Alexander, and a sweet baby sister, Emma Lou!). We are a house full of love and perfect chaos!

I am a USA soccer fanatic!

 As a Director in Bland’s Audit department, the workload variety Eker enjoys includes overseeing assurance services for closely-held businesses, governmental entities, and not-for-profits. He also specializes in governmental single and compliance audits.

He joined Bland & Associates immediately after earning a BSBA in Business Administration and Accounting from Nebraska Wesleyan in 2007. Eker has since worked his way up from Associate to Director, a position he took in 2021. In addition, he is a Certified Public Accountant, a Certified Fraud Examiner and he holds an Advanced Single Audit Certificate.

More than anything, Eker says he prides himself on being available, empathetic and committed to helping his clients. He also places a strong emphasis on collaboration.

“I am a firm believer in teamwork,” said Eker. “Working with both peers and clients, it’s important for everyone to feel united and understand the importance of each role in achieving our goal.
