John Schulte, CPA says he has always been interested in numbers but taking a couple of Accounting classes in high school and college sparked his interest in pursuing a career in the field.

“In college, my first Accounting class was challenging, but I did well,” said Schulte. “It was then that I really started to realize it was a field in which I could have a fulfilling career.”

 Schulte serves as a Manager in Bland’s Government Consulting department, a position he began in 2017. In this role, he runs the contract with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services for our Managed Care Organizations’ cost report examinations and manages various other audits as well. In 2009, Schulte joined Bland & Associates as a Senior Accountant and was promoted to Supervisor in 2015.

He says the key to his success lies in open communication with the team and clients, as well as his ability to meet the client’s expectations and deadlines. He also sees the merit in always working to improve on the skills required to exceed client expectations.

“My ultimate goals are to teach and train my staff to be better auditors, and always exceed our clients’ expectations,” he said.

Born and raised in Fort Dodge, Iowa, Schulte earned a BSBA in Accounting from Creighton University. He is also a Certified Public Accountant and has completed specific training regarding Medicare regulation, auditing, and compliance monitoring services.
