Kailey Riskowski, CPA, CHFP
Partner
Kailey Riskowski, CPA, CHFP, attributes her career choice to Bland & Associates. In 2004, she was a first-year Political Science major at the University of Nebraska-Omaha (UNO). At the same time, she started working part-time as an administrative assistant for the firm that would introduce her to the possibilities of a career in Accounting.
“When I started at Bland, I found that I really enjoyed the audit or tax work I would get the occasional opportunity to work on,” she said. “I signed up for my first Accounting class the next year, and here I am, all these years later.”
Kailey’s Disclosures
Call me crazy, but I enjoy mowing the lawn. I find it relaxing to put your headphones on, put in a little hard work and have a nice looking yard when you are done!
I am a bad driver…or so I have been told.
I am terrible at singing, but I love doing it. Luckily my kids are fans (they are required to be, ha!)!
Technical Experience
- Financial audits, reviews, and compilations
- OMB circular A-133 compliance audits
- Attestation examinations and performance audits
- Cost report preparation and reimbursement consulting
Riskowski first joined Bland & Associates full-time after earning a B.S. in Accounting and Business Administration from UNO in 2009. She was promoted to manager of the Audit and Assurance Department in 2014, named director in November 2017 and Partner in 2020.
Riskowski primarily works with long-term care clientele (both not-for-profit organizations and closely-held businesses). More specifically, she oversees assurance services, Medicaid and Medicare cost report preparation, and consulting engagements. In her role as Partner, she helps health care providers manage and oversee their financial and operational issues, while they try to navigate a constantly evolving regulatory environment. Riskowski is also a Certified Healthcare Financial Professional (CHFP), a certification achieved through the successful completion of the program offered by Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA).
She says her goal and favorite part of being an Accountant is helping clients with the financial and regulatory aspects of their business and she also loves the ever-present challenge of the work.
“I have a genuine desire to help our clients, the ability to be thorough and a need to be challenged and learn new things,” said Riskowski. “This is the perfect fit!”
