Bland & Associates Promotions

Bland & Associates would like to congratulate our recent employees for their hard work in their promotions.

Manager

Katie Brabec, CPA

Katie Brabec has been promoted to Manager after starting at Bland & Associates as an Intern working her way up to full-time in 2010. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration –Accounting and Finance from Creighton University in 2010. Katie’s main focus area is in the Government Consulting Department. Currently Katie is a member of the AICPA, Nebraska State Society of CPA’s and Accounting & Financial Women’s Alliance.

Supervisor

Jordan Peterson

Jordan Peterson joined Bland & Associates in 2013, and has been recently promoted to Supervisor within our Government Consulting Department. He assists with various financial and compliance audits of healthcare organizations that receive Medicare funding. Jordan grew up in South Sioux City, NE and acquired his degree from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln in 2012.

Sarah Gryp

Sarah Gryp has been promoted to Supervisor after joining Bland & Associates initially in 2013. Sarah grew up in Phoenix and attended Creighton University, graduating with her BSBA in Accounting in 2013. She is presently working in the Government Consulting Department.

Rachel Turek, CPA

Rachel Turek has been promoted to Supervisor after joining Bland & Associates in 2013. She is a valuable member of our Auditing Department, primarily working with our non-profit and family-owned businesses. Rachel was born and raised in Omaha, and is a 2011 graduate of Bellevue University.

Senior

Kenny Downing

Kenneth Downing has been promoted to Senior after joining Bland & Associates in 2014. He calls both Okoboji and Ogden, Iowa home. He works primarily with the Government Consulting Department. Kenny succeeded in being a Beta Alpha Psi Distinguished Member and officer as well as making the Dean’s List. He graduated from University of Nebraska at Omaha in 2014.

Spencer Pruss, CPA

Spencer Pruss, recently promoted Senior, focuses his time in the Government Consulting Department. He mainly works on compliance services for Accountable Care Organizations. Spencer graduated from University of Nebraska at Omaha in 2015, and has been with Bland & Associates since 2012. He grew up in the Omaha metro area and enjoys sports, music and his two cats.

PJ Predoehl

PJ Predoehl joined Bland & Associates in 2014, and has been recently promoted to Senior within our Government Consulting Department focusing on examinations and reviews of Medicare program participants. PJ graduated from Bellevue University in 2014 Magna Cum Laude. He enjoys coaching his two children’s summer teams in baseball and softball.

Mike Muller

Mike Muller has been promoted to Senior after joining Bland & Associates in 2014. Mike focuses his efforts in the Tax Department, preparing personal and business tax returns for multiple clients. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Nebraska at Omaha in 2015 as well as achieving multiple Dean’s List honors. Mike enjoys golfing, watching football and time with family and friends.

Kal Bartholomew

Kal Bartholomew joined Bland & Associates in 2014, and has been recently promoted to Senior within our Government Consulting Department. He assists with assurance and compliance services for Accountable Care Organizations, Medicare Advantage and Prescription Drug Plans and Comprehensive Primary Care Initiative Practices. Kal grew up in Council Bluffs, IA and acquired his degree from Bellevue University.

Associate II

Katie Powell

Katie Powell has been promoted to Associate II after joining Bland & Associates in 2014. Katie focuses her efforts in the Audit Department, which focuses on long-term care, nursing facilities and assisted living facilities doing Medicare and Medicaid cost reports as well as financial statement services. She received her undergrad from University of Nebraska at Lincoln in May of 2015 and is currently working to finish her Masters in December of 2016. Katie grew up in Valley/Omaha and enjoys traveling, reading and wakeboarding.
Chad Colvert

Chad Colvert has been promoted to Associate II after joining Bland & Associates in 2014. Chad is a valuable member of our Tax Department focusing on real estate entities and personal tax services. He grew up in Kearney, NE and is married with two children. Chad enjoys golfing, Husker football and the Denver Broncos.

Nate Kallhoff

Nathan Kallhoff joined Bland & Associates in 2015 as an intern and has been recently promoted to Associate II. After learning and working within all departments, Nate has now shifted his interest in the Audit Department. He received his first Bachelor’s degree from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln in 2012 and is currently working towards a second Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.

Matt Fowler

Matt Fowler joined Bland & Associates in 2014, and has recently been promoted to Associate II in the Government Consulting Department. Matt was the recipient of The Foundation of The Nebraska Society of CPA’s 5th Year Accounting Scholarship while attending Bellevue University. He is committed to providing his best and attributes that to his parents. Matt enjoys soccer and coaching kids. He is married with two beautiful children.

Alex Furley

Alex Furley joined Bland & Associates in 2014, and has been recently promoted to Associate II within our Government Consulting Department. Alex graduated from University of Nebraska Lincoln in 2014 while achieving a place on the Dean’s List. He grew up in Omaha and has three siblings that are triplets. Alex enjoys golfing and exercising in his spare time.

Nicole Hamlin

Nicole Hamlin has been promoted to Associate II after joining Bland & Associates in 2014. Nicole is a member of our Government Consulting Department focusing on compliance audits and desk reviews of entities that receive Medicare funding. She enjoys running, yoga and the history of major cities. Nicole grew up in Anchorage, AK as well as Omaha. She is married and has two children that are able to enjoy a few days a week with both sets of grandparents.

Melissa Turkin

Melissa Turkin, has been promoted to Associate II in the Client Accounting Services Department, after joining Bland & Associates in 2015. Melissa graduated with Highest Honors while earning her Bachelor’s Degree at Friends University. In addition, she has finished her MBA and is currently in studying for her CPA. She is an active member of the AICPA Student Membership Committee. Melissa was born and raised in Topeka, KS and enjoys scrapbooking, photography and rides a motorcycle.

Star Rochelle

Star Rochell has been promoted to Associate II in the Client Accounting Services Department after joining Bland & Associates in 2015. Star graduated from University of Nebraska at Omaha in 2016 with her BS in Accounting. She helps clients with monthly accounting tasks such as reconciliations, sales tax, payroll and more. Star has always loved math as well as reading and spending time with family. She is married and has two German Shepherds.
