Bland & Associates Announces Five Promoted in the Government Consulting Department
Bland & Associates, P.C. (Bland) is pleased to announce that five employees have been promoted within the Government Consulting department
REBECCA GOODWIN – MANAGER, GOVERNMENT CONSULTING
Growing up in Arlington, Nebraska, Rebecca Goodwin says she felt drawn to the accounting field when taking a course in high school, but for her it is much more than “crunching numbers”.
“Beyond the numbers, I enjoy being able to find innovative solutions or improvements to projects,” she said. “I pride myself on providing a product or service that goes above what is expected.”
Goodwin joined Bland & Associates in 2011. She was recently promoted to Manager in the Government Consulting department where she is responsible for Healthcare Compliance and Attestation, and Comprehensive Care for Joint Replacement (CJR) monitoring.
In 2013, Goodwin earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a Concentration in Accounting and Business Management from Midland University. She is an active member of the Accounting & Financial Women’s Alliance (AFWA) – Omaha Chapter and serves as the Director of Communications.
HEIDI MCMAHON – MANAGER, GOVERNMENT CONSULTING
Heidi McMahon joined Bland & Associates in 2015 and has been recently promoted to Manager in the Government Consulting department. She specializes in the inspection of financial instruments to ensure that the documentation meets or exceeds the client’s requirements. Moving forward, Heidi says her goals are to continue to streamline processes to best meet client needs and, as always, to provide exceptional service.
McMahon grew up in Mapleton, Iowa and earned an Associate Degree in Arts and Sciences from Western Iowa Tech Community College in 1996. She went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Health and Human Performance in 1997 and a Bachelor of Science in Accounting in 2000, both from Iowa State University.
JORDAN PETERSON – MANAGER, GOVERNMENT CONSULTING
Growing up in South Sioux City, Nebraska, Jordan Peterson says he has enjoyed working with numbers since he was young because the answers were always the same. He joined Bland & Associates in 2013 and was recently promoted to Manager in the Government Consulting department. Jordan’s role includes supervising large teams performing various types of compliance audits, developing compliance monitoring processes and procedures, contributing innovative solutions to Bland’s clients, and coordinating the communication processes between Bland, government agencies, and teaming partners.
Peterson currently serves as a Bland Cares Board Member and earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting and Finance from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 2012.
AUSTIN JOHNSON – ASSOCIATE II, GOVERNMENT CONSULTING
According to Omaha native Austin Johnson his recent promotion to Associate II is already providing additional leadership opportunities. Austin is currently in-charge of compiling data and other useful tracking metrics to draft internal and external reports and training material which is in-line with his long-term goal at Bland & Associates. Johnson says he ultimately wants to lead more training endeavors to help jumpstart new Associates in their introduction to the firm.
Austin joined Bland in 2017 and works in the Government Consulting department providing audit and oversight services for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). More specifically, Johnson is responsible for reviewing descriptive materials such as press releases, beneficiary notification letters, and annual reports, his role is to ensure that these public-facing materials align with the participation agreement requirements that CMS sets forth.
Johnson earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 2014.
JEN LERDAHL – ASSOCIATE II, GOVERNMENT CONSULTING
Although she wanted to be teacher when she was younger, Jen Lerdahl says her love of numbers and spreadsheets made accounting the perfect career choice. Jen joined Bland & Associates in 2016 and was recently promoted to Associate II in the Government Consulting department. Lerdahl is currently performing various types of compliance audits and examinations, including the review of claims and prescription drug data to determine compliance with CMS’ regulations. She also assists CMS with determining organizations’ readiness to comply with Model requirements.
Lerdahl earned a Bachelor of Science in Education and Human Sciences in 2006 from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln and a Bachelor of Science in Business from Bellevue University in 2009.
