Adam Steffen, Manager
Healthcare Consulting

Growing up in rural Northeast Nebraska, Adam Steffen was sure he would be a mechanic like his dad. Taking a high school accounting class changed his mind. He says, “it just clicked.”

In 2017, Adam joined Bland & Associates as a contractor, and in 2019, he joined the family officially as a Healthcare Consulting Manager and Senior Team Lead in the Government Consulting department. In this role, he is responsible for overseeing the quality portion of the CPC+ Audits. He is also responsible for developing data analytics and healthcare consulting opportunities.

Much of Adam’s time is spent working on Medicare contracts, ensuring compliance with the requirements of several pilot programs. He also helps identify accounts to be audited by designing data analytics proposals supported by aggregated data and comparative analysis. This capability is applicable well beyond Medicare pilot programs and has been used for analysis on non-profits, school districts, manufacturers, distributors, and construction companies.

Prior to joining Bland & Associates, Adam spent 13 years working at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Nebraska, including 8 years conducting audits of Medicare Cost Reports filed by Nebraska hospitals and 5 years running the Nebraska Comprehensive Health Insurance Pool. He also worked at Arbor Health Plan for 5 years where he was responsible for all aspects of the provider network.

Adam earned a Bachelors Degree in Accounting from Buena Vista University in 1999 and earned his MBA degree from the University of Nebraska at Omaha in 2006.

Adam’s Disclosures

I grew up four miles from the nearest town, and that town only had 160 people in it.
When I first moved to Omaha, I took up boxing. I fought two amateur bouts in the super heavyweight division. Then I met my future wife, and thus ended my boxing career.
I am trying to learn to walk on my hands.
